Yaginuma and Carroll were both awarded the second place finish, evenly splitting the remaining prize money, with the tournament concluding with no official winner and no bracelet awarded.
Contrary to some predictions, the investigation didn’t take very long, and the results didn’t come as much of a surprise.
WSOP decided that no bracelet will be awarded in Event #53: $1,500 Millionaire Maker. Instead, both Yaginuma and Carroll were officially awarded second place, with the prize money split evenly between the two.

Poker has no shortage of controversies but last night’s shenanigans have caused considerable debate. The “Millionaire Maker” is a $1,500 entry no-limit holdem event guaranteeing at least $1 million to the winner. There were 12,000 entries so the top two places actually paid over $1 million. An outside organization (ClubWPT, an online site) offered a $1 million bonus if a contest winner on their site won the Millionaire Maker. One of the final two players to survive the Millionaire Maker was eligible for the bonus.
