No, the World Poker Tour (WPT) isn’t bigger than the World Series of Poker (WSOP). WSOP rules as poker’s top event with its huge crowds and “World Champion” title. WSOP started in 1970 and runs over 100 events each year. Its Main Event costs $10,000 to enter and drew 10,112 players in 2024, creating a $93.5 million prize pool. Winners get gold bracelets, poker’s biggest prize. WPT began in 2003 with buy-ins from $3,500 to $25,000 at fewer stops worldwide.

WPT Gold is a sweepstakes-style poker platform from the World Poker Tour that uses two separate balances: Gold Coins for casual play and Sweeps Coins for prize-eligible play. For example, a player may use Gold Coins to join a practice table, while Sweeps Coins are the currency that can be redeemed for cash if the site’s rules are met. The basic idea is simple: you do not deposit money into a normal real-money poker account, but instead you get access through coin packages and promotions.
